Radio shack rca ground loop isolator12/17/2023 ![]() I own 25 ft combo xlr/power cords to make things easy. I ALWAYS try to connect my powered speakers to the SAME power source as my mixer and laptop. Was it another piece of equipment that conflicted with the speakers,Īnything I need to look for in the future? In almost 14 years, I've never run into this problem, but I am somewhat new with powered speakers (7 months). So, was this an electrical issue that just occurred recently, I had to plug the speakers in to another circuit so I wouldn't have that hum.Īgain, I have used that same outlet probably 100 times before with same system but with passive speakers & no problems. I cant be sure, but it think, without anything else plugged in on that one outlet except the speakers, I had a hum. So I got out another extension cord & ran it to another outlet on a pole through the seating (it was the next closest to us) & that finally stopped the hum. one at a time to disable that itemĮventually, I did end up with a hum in both speakers before I was through trouble shooting. Even from 1/4 lines to RCA lines from the mixer to the speakerĤ) I changed lines from the sound card to the mixer (& was about to change the sound card itself)ħ) I unplugged each thing (from the power strip & what it was connected to) that I had connected to anything. (Later I found out it was on the same circuit)ģ) I swapped out speaker cable. ![]() Changed to a completely different outlet in a different location. This one outlet had 4 outlets so I just simply changed from one outlet to anotherĢ) I changed outlets. So, I start to trouble shoot.ġ) I changed outlets. ![]() We get almost set up, & start to turn everything on & there is a hum in the right speaker. However, this was the first time we have used powered speakers (Yamaha DBR12's) in there. We played a wedding yesterday in a venue that we have played many times with no issues. Yesterday was one of those days when you go out & everything goes wrong. I'm not sure this was a speaker problem as such so its in the general forum for general issue. ![]()
